Thredbo area gets a 90mm dumping over the weekend

After the sweltering heat and drying winds over the past few weeks, the heavens opened up over the weekend dumping around 90mm of rain in the Thredbo area. The rivers rose swiftly, making angling very difficult. Today (Monday) has seen a return of better conditions with water levels tapering off and water clarity on the mend. Nice clusters of caddis were forming late in the day, with the odd trout rising. A quick flick late this evening drew a few fish up using smallish (white) elk hair patterns. Hoppers are increasing in their numbers and are becoming ever so larger in size. The odd dragonfly and damsel are also showing themselves. It is going to be great. The photo attached shows the Moonbah River upstream of The Barry Way bridge crossing. Its high but fishable.
