The alpine streams and creeks are looking a treat. The photo below was taken on Monday and hardcore flyfishers will probably know where it is and should be drooling. Trout were plentiful and were taking dries with earnest. You could not do wrong. Un-weighted nymphs, mayfly emergers and caddis would do the trick. Hoppers caught the attention of the bigger fish. It was amazing. As a friend of mine would say “a cigarette butt would have drawn a fish”. After a good 10-hours of wading, I was about to head off late in the day until a spectacular dun hatch made me dong the waders back on, rig the rod and shoot that line that one last time! I knew my wife would be at me when I got home because I said that “this time I WILL be back for dinner”. Well I did the smart thing. Fish past dusk, drag some mudeyes through the pools at night and sneak into the house when everyone was already in bed leaving the fallout for the morning.
